There are countless scholarships available to strong and driven women of many different ethnicities and interests. These scholarships can be found all around the web from many different sources and for women of all different career paths. The following are a few different scholarships for single mothers and women from all over the internet.
Glamour Magazine’s Top Ten College Women is a scholarship for women that are currently enrolled in a college as a junior who is making or is aiming to make a huge change in the world. Many of the women selected in the past years, were on their way to empowering women worldwide. They were also very well rounded, focused on both their academic studies and their extracurricular activities, while still keeping large goals in mind for the future. The Google Anita Borg scholarship was created in honor of Anita Borg, a woman who strived to eliminate the barriers that keep women from entering a field of study related to technology and computer related studies. The scholarship is awarded to female students, both in their undergraduate and graduate years of education who show a strong academic background and striking leadership skills. A student still in their undergraduate studies must be a going into their senior year, and all applicants must have a 3.5 GPA or higher and currently be enrolled in a computer science or engineering track or some related major. Those selected will receive $10,000 dollars and a Google retreat.
The American History Scholarship for Women is given each year to a woman who has given some sort of contribution to the government. The applicants must be history majors in their freshman year of college. The scholarship is awarded by the local DAR chapter and is awarded to 2 women every year, granting them each 2,000 dollars. The Calgon, Take Me Away to College Essay Writing Contest is open to any female student looking to enter college or currently enrolled in college at any four year university. The applicants must have a 3.0 GPA or higher. The scholarship is awarded to eight students every year and is a scholarship amount of anywhere from 1,000 to 7,000 dollars. The College Scholarship’s Foundation, Women’s Scholarship is perfect for any women who is trying to pursue a college education. It is not major specific. The only qualifications needed are to have a 3.0 GPA and a current full time pursuit of a degree at an accredited four year school. The application is short and the most difficult part is a 300 word essay on a few different topics. The winner will receive 500 dollars to go towards their education. There are so many scholarships out there available for women of every kind. The smallest dollar amount can make a difference in the amount of money that is spent on college every year. As times get tougher, scholarships become more and more sought after.
