In today’s world, there are a lot of scholarships for black women readily available. As a black woman in the United States, you probably have many different responsibilities. You raise your family with the best of care, work a full-time job, and volunteer in your community. Sometimes, you may start to believe that there is simply not enough time or money to help you achieve your educational goals, but there is hope. With these three scholarships made specifically for you, you can get the degree that you have always wanted.
First of all, you are eligible to receive the Dr. Wynetta A. Frazier “Sister to Sister” Scholarship. This scholarship is worth $500, and two are awarded each year to qualified black women. If you are an African-American women who is at least twenty five years of age, you may be eligible for these scholarships for black women. It was made specifically for women who are trying to go back to school after dropping out because of the need to care for children or to seek employment. If you do not have the support of a husband and you are considered eligible financially, you can apply for this scholarship through the National Hook-Up of Black Women, Inc.
Another scholarship that you are eligible for as an African-American woman is the Black Women in Sisterhood for Action (BISA) scholarship. It provides $1000 per year over a period of four years. The BISA scholarship program does not only provide black women with financial assistance, but also provides intensive support while you are getting your degree. They will help you find your textbooks, provide you with tutoring, and allow you to have a distinguished black woman for a mentor. They will even provide you with transportation if you do not have a car. If you are a young black woman between seventeen and twenty years old, you are a leader in your community, and you have financial need, consider applying for this great scholarship. Finally, Jeanette Rankin Foundation Grants for Low-Income Women is another program that has many scholarships for black women available. The scholarships are available for financially needy women who are thirty five years of age or even older. In order to be eligible, you must be trying to pursue a first-time bachelor’s or associate’s degree. To apply, you need to show that you are accepted into an ACICS accredited school, have a low income, and have clear career goals that you want to achieve. The reward amounts vary from hundreds to thousands of dollars based on the specific scholarship that they give to you. Do not let your educational goals slip away. Even though you may be a mother or trying to provide for a family, there is no reason why you can’t get the financial assistance you need to get a college degree. These great scholarships for black women will help you be on your way to a bright future in college.
